Arcustech was launched in October 2013, branching off of a company whose history started in 1998 (Gippy's Internet Solutions / EngineHosting). It is this history and original vision that we are continuing.
We have always believed that "managed servers" should be the primary focus rather than being an afterthought and we are keeping that tradition strong in Arcustech. Neither self-managed servers nor shared hosting are offered. Instead, we are here to work with you as your server administrators, assisting with scaling, optimization, and recommending solutions for each of your projects.
Arcustech is made public after months of sharing and testing with web development shops and clients using our “cousin company” EngineHosting, which was launched in 2002 (and closed fully in 2019). Arcustech has a fresh new focus on only fully-managed, high performance SSD VPS solutions with strong support and technical teams!
An off-network Status Page powered by Statuspage.io is added. This new status page gets scheduled and unscheduled event details out to our customers faster and without fail. Customers can now subscribe to get updates via email, sms, twitter, or RSS feed, in any combination. Updates are also automatically posted to our Twitter feed @ArcustechUSA.
We became an Optimized Hosting Parter with CloudFlare.com. This brings the benefits of CloudFlare's global and expanding CDN, DDoS, Application Firewall, and other services to all of our clients with the added bonus of the CloudFlare Railgun systems. This allows non-cachable, dynamic HTML sites to benefit from greater speed across CloudFlare's CDN coverage without having to be a $200+/month CloudFlare Business account holder.
We expanded our servers and infrastructure in Virginia to support our complex VPS deployment clients. Up to this point, we only offered custom, advanced deployments to our Minneapolis, MN and Fremont, CA data centers.
We have, from the start, provided our clients free full system snapshots. This allowed the server to be restored to one of 4 rolling weekly backups. While many clients have their own file and database level backup solutions, we also had many asking us to offer an advanced, off-site file-level backup solution. And so, a fee-based Advanced Backup solution available to all of our clients came to be.
Continuing our work with Cloudflare, we are proud to annouce that we are both protecting and speeding up our Managed DNS servers with CloudFlare’s advanced Virtual DNS solution. This puts Cloudflare's vast, global newtork of servers in front of our DNS servers, providing global DNS speed up and advanced DNS DDoS protection features.
We started the year off by expanding both our VPS product lines and advanced backup solutions. At the same time. we lowered the price on many of our products. Great way to start off the new year!
Based on customer surveys we ran in March 2016, our future direction was clear. Clients voiced their desire for Arcustech to expand outside of the US and requested additional larger and smaller VPS offerings. The 2nd half of 2016 was a push for our teams to come up with a future platform that could easily extend into other US and international markets.
We are proud to launch a new, much improved web site to go along with the announcement of our v.2 VPS platform. We've rebuilt our network and server technology from the ground up. By moving from VMware's ESXi to the LXD container hypervisor from Ubuntu, we now have a technology base that can be replicated in new geographic locations as client demand grows.
We have worked with the great folks over at Craft CMS and their parent company Pixel and Tonic for over a decade now. This is why we’re excited to announce that we have become part of their new Craft CMS Partners program, as an official Craft CMS Hosting Partner.

We moved our full infrastructure to our west coast data center providers newer, larger data center. This not only provides us more growth space, but an upgrade to fully 2N redundant power, higher speed network uplinks, and more. This was our first large scale upgrade to our west coast data center location since 2002.
While we as a company have always been mindful of our impact to the environment, from technology we use, to how we handle retired equipment, and having more remote workers than in-person, we have now expanded our Green Hosting goals! With almost 100% remote workers, working with certified green e-recycling companies, and purchasing at least 2 times more renewable energy certificates (RECs) than the power we use across our data centers, and the power our employees use, we are still striving to do more.
Launched our v3 platform, which included new pricing, increased resources across our Managed VPS and Craft CMS Optimized VPS plans, new services such as our Managed Rootless Docker VPS plans, we also added support for PostgreSQL along with our default support for MySQL.
